In Algeria, the weekdays are from Saturday to Wednesday for almost all the public sector. The business hours are from 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M.
However, banks, financial institutions and the administrations dealing with the public are open from Sunday to thursday. Banks are open from 9:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M.
Entering Algeria
Foreign nationals are required to obtain an entry visa from the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Algeria. It is recommended to check if this requirement is not applicable, on the basis of the reciprocity, to foreign nationals whose respective country had agreed to do so to Algerian nationals.
There is no other requirement unless coming from area where disease such as cholera and smallpox are reported. In this case, certificates are required at the point of entry into Algeria.
Permits for work and residence
Foreign nationals living or working in Algeria may obtain these permits from the local authorities.
Customs duties
There are no customs duties for used personal effects of foreign nationals.
Limited quantities of tobacco, alcohol, perfumes and gifts may be brought in duty free.
On arrival in Algeria, foreign currency must be declared to the customs authorities.
It is prohibited to bring weapons, drugs, obscene litrature and films as well as the Algerian currency.
